She couldn’t believe she had let Bennett convince her to go hide in Canada. The clan there sounded a lot like her biological clan; she should fit right in, except for the part where she was actually a lion and not a dragon.

She didn’t want to go, but she knew it was time. Maybe on the way she would tell Bennett the truth about everything that happened and they could brainstorm what to do.

She would feel a lot better about telling him if he was able to have some backup close by. He had reassured her over and over that he had many contacts in the shifter world, and she believed him, but if they were all over one hundred miles away, and Nicos showed up, those friends wouldn’t have been any good to either of them.

Early in the morning, she was vaguely aware of Bennett slipping back into bed. That was another thing. They had gotten into the habit of sleeping together at night. She was going to miss him when she got to Canada, and then later on, if she ever made it back to Hollywood.

“How did it go?” In her muddled mind, she remembered he’d wanted to visit Wyatt, the dragon who played for the Dallas Cowboys football team.

“It went fine. If you can believe it, he didn’t know he was a shifter.”

That cut through her sleep-muddled brain. She turned over to face Bennett. “What? How is that possible?”

“He was adopted into a human family.”

“Huh.” Not her most eloquent response, but it was a crazy revelation. “I had no idea that was possible.”

“Neither did I. I think he was relieved to know that there are more of us, all over the world. I'm going to get him in contact with Rhett.”

“That’s a good idea.” She snuggled into his arms and fell asleep.
